TMC has a small core
of permanent facilitators, supported by a larger network of
associates. As at June 2004, the team totals 14 people.
TMC associates work from their home offices, using the
latest communications technology. Generally, they meet weekly
on client sites and quarterly at a TMC location.
This model is highly effective in the following ways:
- It appeals to doers and breeds greater entrepreneurialism
- It encourages a focus on really looking after clients so that they stay
- It keeps costs down
- It maintains flexibility for larger projects and peaks in demand
- It ensures founders and experts focus on doing the work rather than managing the company
- It allows sector and client knowledge to be retained in the permanent team, while giving access to wider local and specialist resources as needed
The team is well educated and smart. Typically, they have
been trained within larger consultancies and/or international
business schools, although many have set up their own ventures.
Among the 14 associates, there are 12 different nationalities.
All have travelled widely and speak more than one language.
Thus, there is validity in TMC's claim to be both globalistic
and local.
